Keanna Capener
Hello, I am Keanna Capener and I am studying Biology with a
minor in Community Food Systems at Regis University. I was born and raised in Santa
Fe, New Mexico with three other sisters and a pup. In Santa Fe, I had a very active
role in the community, school, work, and church. At a very young age my parents emphasized the importance of giving back which my sisters and I took rather
seriously. We began doing service work, always asking to help, and striving to
use our privilege to make a difference in at least one person’s life.
My passion for health care and social justice have
cultivated a sense of purpose and reason for my life. With my bachelor’s degree,
I hope to further my education by attending medical school and potentially
receive a masters in public health. I want to continue to grow with others
compassionately by listening, communicating, and educating.
I love hiking, running, rock climbing, baking, cross-country
skiing, reading, laughing, and playing with my dog. I am deathly afraid of
moths and change, but am actively trying to be okay with being uncomfortable. I
am excited to be apart of this trip and new community as I continue to learn more
about creating sustainable and ethical health care systems.
